Existentialist philosophers reflect upon man's being in a way other than the being of other entities; and accurately label this distinction of man's being as "existence". They are seeking to show the difference between man's being or existence in this world and [being of] other entities. Inevitably, they have to research in the way and form that man is in this world as well as his states and Existential issues. Though this approach has been focus of the thinkers of that time and after it, Soren Kierkegaard, with his basically religious reflection as opposed to logical philosophy and rational principles of Hegel, may be called the founder of Existentialism; and Gabriel Marcel, Karl Jaspers, Martin Heidegger, and Jean Paul Sartre may be enlisted as its main representatives. <br />The notable point is that philosophers of existance avoided systematization and did not provide a systematic philosophy. Though philosophical ideas in this extensive field are so diverse that it has produced some misunderstandings, because of the common way of philosophizing and their emphasis put on man instead of nature, they are classified under "Existentialist" category. اگزیستانسیالیسم یکی از مکاتب فلسفی است که بخش بزرگی از فلسفة معاصر را دربر می‌گیرد. فیلسوفان اگزیستانسیالیست بر هستی انسان همچون گونه‌ای متمایز از هستی دیگر هستندگان تأمل می‌کنند و با دقت به این تمایز، هستی انسان را «وجود» یا existence می‌نامند. آن‌ها درصدد نشان‌دادن تفاوت میان وجود یا بودنِ انسان در این دنیا با سایر اشکال هستی‌اند. در نتیجه، به تحقیق در شیوه و شکلِ‌بودنِ انسان در دنیا و بررسی مباحث وجودی و حالات او ناچارند. <br />ضمن این‌که این رهیافت بسیار مورد توجه اندیشمندان آن عصر و پس از آن قرار گرفت، می‌توان سورن کی‌یر‌کگارد را با تأملات اساساً دینی، در برابر فلسفۀ منطقی و اصول عقلانی هگل، آغازگر اگزیستانسیالیسم خواند و از گابریل مارسل، کارل یاسپرس، مارتین هایدگر، و ژان پل سارتر در مقام نمایندگان اصلی این مکتب نام برد. <br />شایان توجه است که فیلسوفان اگزیستانس از نظام‌سازی و ارائۀ فلسفۀ سیستماتیک پرهیز کردند و با وجود تنوع افکار فلسفی در این حوزة وسیع، که بعضاً باعث کج‌فهمی‌هایی شده، شیوۀ فلسفه‌ورزی مشترک و آغاز و تأکید آن‌ها بر انسان به جای طبیعت، آن‌ها را ذیل عنوان اگزیستانسیالیست گرد می‌آورد. https://occidentstudy.ihcs.ac.ir/article_255_30bfddbf52b09a60f427a96004d20c22.pdf
